Here's a recipe for all that FREE pasta and really inexpensive Philly Cooking Cremes was scored last week at Kroger. :o) Best part about it? My two year old friend, Colin, ate this like he was a starving man and his mother swears she can't get him to go near spinach at home. It was pretty fast and easy to throw together as I did what I normally do and used what I had on hand and what I like. You could easily add to this or change it up to suit your preferences. Glad I made extra baguettes earlier and saved those crusts from our everyday bread. We were bread eating fools, soaking up all the sauce in this faboo dish. Enjoy! Peace, B.
The cost of each ingredient is listed in parenthesis beside the ingredient as it appears in the recipe. This is the cost I paid for these ingredients and may differ from what you may pay.
Boil 16 ounces of bowtie pasta (FREE) according to package directions. Meanwhile, thaw 8 ounces of frozen spinach (FREE) in the microwave. Drain pasta and return to pot. Add the spinach, one Italian Cheese & Herb Philly Cooking Creme (FREE), 8 ounces of marinara sauce (est. cost 50 cents), and 4 ounces feta cheese ($1.25). Mix well. Heat through on low. Serve with your favorite bread (50 cents).
Serves four with a gracious plenty leftover.
Cost per serving 56 cents. If all items were purchased at retail price (without sales & coupon match ups, but who would do that?!)and not homemade (the spinach was grown, wilted, & frozen; the marinara was homemade & leftover from pizza night; and the bread was homemade), the cost would have been $2.50 per serving. Still not a bad meal. Throw in a salad and it might even pass for healthy.
